Parent's Responses to Ofsted Report

We have been overwhelmed by the responses from parents/carers and school associates.  Here are some extracts from the lovely letters and emails we have received.

  1. I just wanted to say how sorry I was that our lovely school has be unrecognised in the recent Ofsted grading - we still believe our son is in an absolutely Outstanding school which not only nurtures him in the many and varied lessons he enjoys but cares and provides all the children with much more than subject knowledge.

Each time we come into school we see happy, polite, friendly children who have a great pride in their school and certainly our son is growing in confidence through being at Blisworth.

  2. We totally understand how disappointed and frustrated you must all be about the report.

We wanted to say how thoroughly pleased we have been with Blisworth School and all the teachers and admin staff since our son started 3 years ago. We wouldn't want him to go to school anywhere else. Keep up all your excellent work.

  3. I just felt I had to let you know as a parent what a massive impact you’ve had on our family. It was so difficult to see you bearing such a horrible burden when I can’t think of anyone else I know who works harder. You somehow manage to be all things to all people and always put the children first. If Ofsted gave marks for that you’d be off the scale! I personally am so grateful that you managed to show our eldest son school could be fun. He spent the first two years of his academic life so miserable in reception and year 1 at another school, and had to be prised off me every single morning. All that changed instantly when he came to Blisworth in year 2 and we’ve never looked back. As for our younger son, you were so reassuring after his first seizure in year 4 and I know the school could not have done more for him. It’s just such a shame Ofsted can’t take any of these things into account because there’s far more to a good school than just results and data and I’m sure other parents will feel the same.

  4. Don't be disheartened, you and your team at school do a fantastic job and continue to do so. We are certainly very thankful that our 3 children have attended Blisworth School whilst the same staff have been there over the years supporting them all. I am sure that most parents will feel the same as we do.

  5. Parents that I have spoken to me have expressed nothing but support and positivity towards you and all the teachers and staff. They’ve been dismayed and outraged that all the hard work and effort that you and your team do week in week out has not been recognised. I know that you put your heart, soul and every waking hour into the school and at a time like this you must wonder why and feel completely unappreciated. It is appreciated.

  6. We, as parents, and our daughter think you are a fantastic school and we intend to send our other children there as a preference over anywhere else! You still have our unwavering support, the teachers and staff are fab!

  7. You’re doing a fantastic job for the children and that is the most important thing any school can do.

  8. Those who know you know you put your all into the school and believe in you and in the things that you do. They are all behind you and will be supportive of you. It is horrid that the judgement Ofsted makes, and the headline people see, does not reflect everything that goes into a school. It doesn’t show that you create a wonderful, safe and happy learning environment for the children of our future to develop and grown in. Those who know you well though know that is exactly what you do.

  9. I’m so sorry that you have had to experience this in-justice.

  10. I agree with a medal and not just for bravery. Perseverance, being a model for staff and pupils, following through with commitments and I know that you will not shy away from this challenge of turning this report on its head.

  11. You give all the children the best start in life, and they will achieve to be the best they can be as individuals.

  12. I just wanted to say that I was totally shocked by the Ofsted report. As a new(ish) member of staff I have seen how hard everyone works within the school and how much everyone cares that the pupils at Blisworth School be the best they can be and give them every opportunity to achieve this. I am glad that I am part of such a team and work with very dedicated and generous people. The reason we have such a good team is because we have a strong leadership and that is down to you. You have our full support as I know you’re there to support us and together we will turn this around and make the improvements needed. We will have our ‘good with outstanding aspects’ label once more.

  13. You are greatly respected as a headteacher and the parents trust in you.

  14. You must be devastated, it seems like an injustice. I know that plans will be put in place and any issues raised will be resolved. As parents the best decision we made was sending our children to Blisworth. There has never been a day when we have doubted this, including today!

  15. I'm devastated for you and everyone. I think you are amazing and an inspirational person. I have learnt so much from you and when I feel like I can't carry on I think of how you do it so I can, and I keep going.

You go above and beyond for the school and the families, everyone knows that. I still believe you to be a fabulous leader and it's an amazing school.

I wouldn't want my children to go anywhere else. We are all behind you 100%.

  16. Speaking as the mum of two children in Blisworth School, you need to know that I do not recognise this most recent Ofsted report as an honest reflection of my daughters’ schooling. Both of our girls literally bounce to school, presumably because they love belonging.

I can guarantee that our daughters have adored their time at Blisworth. Unlike their contemporaries they have a wide frame of reference. We even wasted 24 thousand pounds on a local private school whilst waiting for places in Blisworth to materialise! The fact that your staff picked up on our daughter’s problems with maths without my saying anything to warn you spoke volumes to me about individualised child attention.

Even having moved away from the village itself, we still drive over each day and despite my ill health would far rather our daughters attended Blisworth than our local school, because we know their school experience is superb.

  17. Sometimes people forget to thank others for all their hard work, because we just begin to expect such hard work. So, on behalf of our family I would like to thank everyone at the school, for providing above and beyond an excellent education to our children and all the Blisworth children and I'm sorry we take it for granted at times.

  18. Celia, you are one of the most passionate and dedicated people I have had the pleasure to work with and I am furious that these people can come in and not recognise the plethora of enormously positive things about your school and you as a leader.

  19. Just to say how bitterly disappointed I am for you all about the Ofsted report.

My son is very happy at Blisworth, he is enjoying all the extra clubs and activities that you kindly run in your own time, his reading and writing are improving quickly with the extra time and effort that is given to him by his teacher and teaching assistant and he is learning lots! Thank you to you all. Keep your chin up and don't let Ofsted get you down. I for one can read between the lines of an Ofsted Report and I'm sure many more will do the same!

  20. I know you couldn't work any harder for the improvement of the school and Blisworth is lucky to have such a dedicated and hardworking staff team. The children at Blisworth benefit from such a rich and creative curriculum and wealth of experiences of opportunities and experiences that other schools could only dream of. Academic rigour is taken very seriously and every single child is encouraged to try to reach their potential.

  21. I have no doubt that Blisworth is not a school that requires improvement and that you and all your staff are doing a fantastic job. I have never met anyone as dedicated to teaching and learning as you are and know how hard you work everyday.

  22. After reading what appears to be an inspection of another school I'm wondering if there's anyway parents can appeal as this is just bizarre!!! I'm so sorry for you all. We know how hard you all work for our children!

  23. To be honest, I'm incensed! I would happily stand up in front of all the parents and tell them that I have put all my children through this school and wouldn't send them anywhere else.

  24. I am shocked. I cannot imagine anyone who would have the child's best interests at heart more than you That includes everything that you do. I know from experience that you do everything brilliantly including monitoring the children's progress.

  25. As a parent I know that you genuinely care a great deal about my child's experience of school and I have been so grateful for that.

  26. I think you are fabulous. Any school is lucky to have you as Headteacher.

  27. We just wanted to say we know how hard you all work to make our school a wonderful place for our children, and appreciate all of the hard work everyone of you give.

  28. At this challenging time, I wanted to write this letter to express my appreciation to you and your staff for the guidance, time and care you have given and continue to provide to our children. Blisworth School have always provided such an open and friendly attitude to all parents/carers and pupils, and has always delivered positive result to any matters that have been raised.

Whilst attending school is about academic learning it is also important to me and my family that my children feel safe, understood, respected and allowed to have a voice. I consider Blisworth School has provided all of these needs and many more for our children. The content of the Ofsted report has clearly been based on a snapshot of life within the walls of the school and I feel no way a true reflection of what I have seen and felt over the last 7 years. I am sure all schools have some room for improvement but this report is inaccurate, negative and at times difficult to recognise the school described.

I have every confidence your leadership team and staff will recover from this adverse outcome and continue to work hard to support and enrich our children's education.

  29. I am sure this has been (and still is) devastating for you Celia, because I don't know anyone who pours so much of themselves into a school; your determination to achieve the very best for the children is and always will be such an inspiration for me.

  30. I just wanted to say you're an amazing head teacher and everyone knows you couldn't give any more than you do. The children are incredibly lucky, the teachers I've been lucky enough to witness teaching are absolutely amazing. A two day snapshot is an impossible and unrealistic way to see what an amazing journey the children at Blisworth are so privileged to be on.

  31. Ofsted need to spend the week in Mrs Saulter's classroom and see that each and every child is silent, glued to her, soaking up all the incredible information she's teaching them, constantly learning and challenging themselves.

They need to spend the week with Miss Rees and witness the wide vocabulary and knowledge of the world, history and geography that she gives them and how she provokes them to think and question and investigate everything. How she inspires them to have a love of reading beyond their years and pushes each and every one of them to improve their skills.

If that's an unsatisfactory then the world's gone mad!

  32. You are an amazing head teacher and put your life into your work and ensuring that all the children that go through Blisworth have the most amazing primary school education, with experiences that children in other schools do not have.
